Pelin Montero

BArts (USYD), DMD (MWU, Arizona) Dr. Pelin’s multicultural background has broadened her dental career internationally from USA to Australia. Growing up in Sydney, she finished a double major Bachelor of Arts at USYD after which she graduated from Doctor of Dental Medicine at Midwestern University in the US. While attending Midwestern University, Dr. Pelin received the Dean’s Clinician Award for excellence in her cohort. She has since moved back to Sydney after practicing in San Francisco, California for several years where she gained valuable experience across a broad range of patients and dental techniques. As a third-generation dentist with an orthodontist father and paediatric dentist mother, Dr. Pelin was immersed in dentistry her entire life while finding a passion for the field at an early age. Dr. Pelin’s conservative treatment philosophy has a focus on holistic medicine, treating patients as a whole person linking their dental health with their systemic and general wellbeing. Her expertise in general dentistry lies in restorative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, restorative implantology ,orthodontics (clear aligners), jaw disorders (TMD), interdisciplinary case management and sleep apnea. At TDP, Dr. Pelin has implemented a robust sleep apnea screening questionnaire for children due to the underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed nature of the disorder which can have severe implications for children’s health. Outside of work, Dr. Pelin loves to adventure outdoors with her husband Ricky and son Tiago on hikes and fly-fishing trips. She also enjoys immersing herself in the Sydney culinary scene and spending quality time with family and friends.
