Associate Professor Nghiem Doan is a distinguished figure in the field of dentistry with an impressive 36 years of dedicated service. His extensive training and experience span a wide range of specialisations, reflecting his commitment to providing comprehensive dental care. Born in Vietnam, he embarked on his professional journey at the University of Queensland, earning a Bachelor of Dental Science in 1988, followed by an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery qualification from the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute at the University of London in 1998.
Dr. Doan further enhanced his expertise with a Master in Public Health from the University of Queensland in 2000 and completed a PhD at the Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation at Queensland University of Technology. His academic credentials also include a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry in Conscious Sedation and Pain Management from the University of Sydney, obtained in 2003.
A former Associate Professor at Griffith University School of Dentistry and Oral Health, and an Adjunct Associate Professor at both the University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology, Dr. Doan is well-regarded as a mentor and educator. He holds multiple specialist registrations with the Dental Board of Australia, including Oral Surgery, Public Health Dentistry, and Conscious Sedation.
His clinical focus is on orthodontic treatments, oral surgery, particularly wisdom tooth extraction and dental implants, alongside IV sedation techniques. Dr. Doan's approach to dental care is deeply influenced by his passion for public health and his commitment to improving dental outcomes for his patients.
