Dr Jack Troy grew up locally on the Gold Coast after moving with his family from England in 2004. He completed his schooling on the coast before moving to Brisbane to study a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at the University of Queensland, where he received the Dean’s Commendation for Academic Excellence. Jack then transferred to Griffith University, where he completed a Bachelor of Dental Health Science, followed by a Master’s degree in Dentistry, receiving the Griffith Award of Academic Excellence for both studies. Dr Jack Troy is profoundly motivated by dentistry’s capacity to transform lives. Jack finds helping patients gain confidence through improved oral health and beautiful smiles incredibly fulfilling. He enjoys watching the transformation in his patients—not just in their appearance but in their self-esteem and overall well-being. Jack employs a holistic approach when caring for his patients, focusing on preventing oral disease through lifestyle modification and oral health education, with a strong belief in prevention over cure. He is immensely grateful for his capacity to uplift the local community by providing vital healthcare services and positively contributing to people’s journey to improved health. One of Jack’s greatest joys is changing the way people perceive dentistry. He embodies a warm, friendly, and compassionate nature, creating a safe and judgement-free environment where everyone can be themselves and show vulnerability without fear. Jack loves instilling confidence and self-belief in patients by providing motivation and encouragement at every step along their oral health journey. He gives the best possible care through his commitment to continued education and the use of evidence-based research. In his spare time, Jack enjoys the perks of coastal life by riding his bike, picking up a coffee from the local cafes, and soaking up the sun at the beaches on the southern end of the coast or northern NSW. He also enjoys staying active by going to the gym, playing sports, and being outside. When Jack’s at home, he enjoys cooking for his family and friends and creating new recipes.

Dr Matthew Woods is a highly experienced dentist with more than 20 years in the profession, bringing a wealth of international knowledge and clinical expertise to the team at Coastal Dental Care. After graduating from dental school in the United Kingdom in 2004, he began a diverse, global career in dentistry. Known for his calm and approachable manner, Matthew combines strong clinical skills with a patient-focused philosophy that helps people feel comfortable, informed, and confident throughout their dental care. Early in his career, Matthew served for five years as a dentist in the British Army, a period that played an important role in shaping both his professional development and leadership abilities. During this time, he refined his clinical skills while learning to work effectively in high-pressure environments where adaptability and clear decision-making were essential. One of the defining moments of his military career came in 2007 when he was deployed during the Iraq War. Stationed in Basrah, he was placed in charge of a dental clinic at a military outstation, providing essential dental care to service personnel operating in challenging conditions. Managing a clinic in an operational environment required resilience, organisation, and composure, and the experience remains one of the most formative chapters of his career.
