I was born in Sydney and moved to Perth as a child, where I’ve happily stayed. I attended a challenging, diverse public high school and was fortunate to learn from inspiring teachers. Winning the manual arts prize (competing mostly with boys) made me wonder if I should pursue a hands-on career. Though I had no work experience, I had a strong instinct that I’d enjoy dentistry—and I do! In 1991, I graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Western Australia, earning awards for Best Student in Prosthodontics and Most Outstanding Student in Restorative Dentistry. I've been a proud member of the ADA ever since.
Over the years, I’ve worked at several private practices across Perth while raising three children. My longest tenure was as a tutor at UWA (now OHCWA) for 25 years, where I taught general and pediatric dentistry, lab work, and dentures. I’m dedicated to ongoing education, with a focus on rehabilitating damaged teeth, pain management, and disease prevention. Recently, I developed an interest in Forensic Dentistry, earning a Graduate Diploma in 2020. I also have training and a strong interest in Alcohol and Other Drug Counseling.
My personal passion is in giving back, especially to underserved communities. I’ve joined three missions to Vietnam with the Children’s Health Aid Team and have volunteered for the past three years at St Patrick’s Community Dental Clinic in Fremantle.
Taking over Perth City Dental has been a proud and exciting milestone for me. This practice, founded by Dr. Bill Marsell 50 years ago and later led by his son, Dr. John Marsell, is deeply rooted in a tradition of high-quality care.
Outside of work, I enjoy staying active, swimming in the ocean, and cooking with local ingredients. My family and friends are central to my life, and I love sharing these activities with them. We have two dogs: a Jack Russell with a big personality and a wise old Kelpie.
