Dr Leonie Aitken

Leonie has been in general practice in the Eastern Suburbs since 1990. She has a broad experience across all areas of general practice, and enjoys using an holistic approach to your health, including diet and exercise advice, and exploring the interactions of your physical, emotional, and mental states. After graduating in Medicine from Queensland University and doing four years’ training at Royal Brisbane Hospital, Leonie worked in London for five years, and did the Membership Examination of the Royal College of General Practitioners. She has also completed the Diploma of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology College, however she does not currently do antenatal shared care. Leonie underwent extensive training in counselling and psychotherapy, and has considerable experience in working with relationship dynamics and how they affect us as a whole. She is a co-author of the chapter “Holistic Group Psychotherapy” in the book “Groupwork in Australia” (2015). Leonie enjoys seeing patients of all ages, and helping with your overall health and wellbeing lifelong. A special delight is caring for and playing with her small grandchildren, who continue to remind her of the importance of “being in the moment” in life.
