Outside of optometry, Alicia enjoys an active lifestyle and a wide range of hobbies—from snowboarding and playing badminton to reading and camping.

Sebastian completed a postgraduate professional doctorate in Optometry from the University of Melbourne in 2015 before moving to Narrabri. He also has completed a bachelor of science from the University of Queensland in 2011, majoring in Biomedical Science, specialising in physiology. Sebastian is therapeutically endorsed and is able to prescribe medications to treat ocular conditions. He is able to treat acute eye infections and inflammation, including removal of metallic foreign bodies from the eye. He also works closely with Ophthalmologists in the region to co-manage glaucoma. Sebastian conducts comprehensive children’s vision and ocular health assessments. He has implemented behavioural optometry programs according to ACBO recommendations (Australian College of Behavioural Optometry) and as of 2023 is CASA certified. Sebastian is qualified to fit and prescribe soft and hard contact lenses including Ortho-K. He also has a keen interest in managing anterior eye conditions including dry eye. Outside of work Sebastian enjoys spending time with his wife Bianca and their 4 children.

She was a Fred Hollows and Institute for Urban Indigenous Health cadet, and has spent some time in Brisbane with a strong focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander eye health. She has moved to Narrabri from Melbourne and she is looking forward to joining the Narrabri community. Chanelle is excited to provide compassionate, community centred care and build meaningful relationships with her patients. Lauren graduated with Honours in Optometry from the University of New South Wales in 2014. She finished her preceptorship at the Australian College of Optometry and worked as a private practitioner at Vision Splendid (Tim Duffy Optometrist) at the Gunnedah practice throughout her studies. Lauren has a keen interest in eye disease management, Ortho-K, and children’s vision. In 2020 she obtained a high distinction in the Advanced Certificate in Glaucoma through the Australian College of Optometry. Lauren has a therapeutics qualification and as such is able to prescribe medications to treat anterior eye diseases, infections and injuries. She works together with ophthalmologists to co-manage glaucoma and other diseases. She has also implemented behavioural optometry programs in line with ACBO (Australian College of Behavioural Optometry) recommendations. Lauren is passionate about rural eye care both within Australia and internationally. She continues to work with Healthwise in Gunnedah to provide eye care to our local Aboriginal community, has worked for the Aboriginal Medical Service in Walgett and Collarenebri, and volunteered as a member of VOSH delivering eyecare to the remote villages in Romania in 2015. Outside of work, Lauren can be found spending time with family and friends, and running after her little boy with her husband Colt.

Deborah Baxter

Debbie earned an honours degree in optometry from the Queensland University of Technology in 1991. For over 30 years, she has committed her professional life to supporting the Narrabri community as an optometrist. Debbie enjoys the broad scope of rural practice and the unique challenges it brings. She studied Ocular Therapeutics and is qualified to prescribe medications to treat eye infections and inflammation, remove foreign bodies from the eye and co-manage glaucoma patients with ophthalmologists. In 2020, she completed the Advanced Certificate in Children’s Vision with a distinction through the Australian College of Optometry. Debbie feels personal satisfaction in interacting with and finding solutions for her patients. She has discovered that combining treatments with continual professional education is an effective way to improve the level of care she can provide. Debbie has spent most of her life in the Narrabri community, having been born and raised here and returning after completing her university studies. She’s also volunteered aboard the “Island Mercy” medical ship, where she provided eye care to isolated Vanuatu villages. She enjoys being a part of the community and having the opportunity to raise her family here.

Helen’s journey in eyecare began when studying Optometry at UNSW. She graduated with distinction in 2023, and in 2024 she embraced a new chapter of her career in Gunnedah. Driven by the sincere desire to make a positive impact, Helen gains personal satisfaction in finding solutions for her patients while placing their wellbeing at the forefront.
