At Honour Optometry, we aren’t your typical practice. Our desire to open our own optometry store stems from our experience working within well-known corporate practices as well as smaller independent stores. After a combined 53 years of service, learnings and knowledge, the time came where we wanted to create our own optometry experience that not only rivalled the expertise and professionalism of existing businesses but also focused on a strong passion of ours – sustainability.

As part of the commitment that we offer all our patients, we have introduced digital retinal imaging as part of a routine eye test for children. In adults it assists in more advanced retinal examinations. This is the latest in diagnostic equipment, producing a high quality digital image of the retina, which can be used to detect early signs of glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, abnormal cholesterol and high blood pressure.

Kenmore Plaza Optometry was set up in 1996 and has been supporting the local community in many ways since then. The principal optometrist, Kylie Zahner started working in the Western Suburbs in 2001, joined the Kenmore Plaza team in 2006 and fulfilled a dream by becoming the owner/managing director in 2015. In the past 23 years Kylie has raised a family locally and been a proud, active member of many local schools, sports clubs and music groups. She has remained very committed to the community whether it be in the form of school vision screenings, nursing home visits, Rotary and Lyons trips to visit the needy in remote areas, catching a boat to work in the floods to help those in need and staying open during covid as an essential part of the local medical team. Our Optometry team has grown to a team of three as Justine Chuang and Kate Blackett, with all their experience, have joined Kylie to help with the growing need for personal eyecare and eyewear solutions in our community. We are all passionate about providing a genuinely high standard of care using advanced optical technology for the entire family – from newborns to those who’ve had a lot more birthdays.
