Siminee is a recently qualified optometrist, who studied in Geelong, Victoria through Deakin University. Despite being born in Queensland, she grew-up in North-East Victoria and has spent a lot of time in regional locations across Australia. Throughout university she worked within the optical industry completing many primary school screening programs, where she developed a passion for paediatric practice. Throughout this time, she found a love for helping kids achieve their best visual outcomes in a fun and educational environment. This only furthered an interest in binocular vision conditions and myopia (short sightedness) control, which is something she hopes to further specialise in throughout her career. In addition to this, she has other interests in diabetic ocular conditions and macular degeneration, specifically in relation to preserving vision and assisting in increasing patients quality of life. Outside of eyes, Siminee enjoys staying active and outdoors and you will often find her at the beach, gym, running or paddleboarding. Having spent a lot of time in the hospitality industry she also loves good food and coffee and will regularly be cooking treats for the Optikus team.

Zahn Kidson, our qualified Optometrist originally studied at the Rand Afrikaans University in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1990. She has also practiced in Zimbabwe, New Zealand and Albury NSW. Zahn and her family moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2009, taking ownership of Optikus and have settled into the community offering a wide range of experience and knowledge. Zahn is also a qualified behavioural optometrist, passionate about children’s eye health and patient vision in general. She will carry out a comprehensive eye exam during your visit and suggest the most suitable solutions to assist you in obtaining a great level of vision and eye health. She has fostered some great working relationships with the Ophthalmologists on the Coast, and is confident in co-managing any issues where required. In her spare time Zahn enjoys riding her Harley through the hinterland of the Coast and is a keen gardener with a special interest in Orchids.

Kathryn has been in the optometry industry, working in private practice for the last 9 years. She began as an optical assistant before qualifying as a therapeutically endorsed optometrist, completing her Master of Optometry with distinction at QUT in 2017. Kathryn loves the diversity optometry provides mixing fashion, health, science and technology across all ages. She is genuinely interested in getting to know you and finding the best visual solution for your lifestyle. You will almost always find Kathryn in a pair of patterned pants and handmade earrings, whilst she hums musical items throughout your consultation.
