Alex is a local Hobart boy, who graduated from Deakin University with a Bachelor of Vision Science and Master of Optometry in 2024. Alex is a full scope optometrist, who is able to prescribe eye drops. He has special interest areas in retinal health, glaucoma co-management and Diabetes related eye conditions. Outside of his professional life, Alex is an avid footy fan, keen swimmer and enjoys spending time with his chocolate Labrador.

I’m an experienced optometrist with over 30 years in practice, originally qualifying in South Africa in 1996. Since then, I’ve worked in the UK and now in Australia, and I’m currently completing my Therapeutic qualification to expand the care I can offer. I’m passionate about providing thorough, personalised eye care and helping people see clearly and comfortably—whether that’s through managing eye health or finding the perfect pair of glasses. Outside the clinic, I love spending time outdoors and relaxing around a fire with my family and friends. I look forward to meeting you and helping you take care of your eyes.
