Dr Anwar Hassan, MPT (Cardio-resp), PhD, MACP , APA-titled Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapist.
Dr Hassan is a Specialist Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapist with over 25 years of clinical experience in assessing and managing patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions. He holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy, a Master's degree in Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy, and a PhD from the University of Sydney.
Dr Hassan has extensive expertise in the management of chronic respiratory diseases, including COPD, bronchiectasis, chronic bronchitis, interstitial lung disease, and neuromuscular disorders. His clinical interests include pulmonary rehabilitation, airway clearance therapy, inspiratory muscle training, cough augmentation techniques, and optimisation of functional capacity and quality of life.
He is also a recognised leader in surgical prehabilitation and has established and led a multidisciplinary prehabilitation program for patients undergoing major abdominal and cardiothoracic surgery. His work focuses on improving patients' physical fitness, respiratory function, nutritional status, and postoperative recovery through evidence-based prehabilitation interventions.
Dr Hassan is actively involved in clinical research, teaching, and service development, with a particular interest in respiratory care, perioperative optimisation, and innovative models of healthcare delivery.
