With a passion for soccer as a player, having played in the NSW premier League for 8 years and as a fully licensed coach, Matthew has invaluable insight into the specific needs of elite sports people. Richard is the principal physiotherapist at Activ Therapy, with over 10 years experience in private practice, workplace injury, public hospital, community and sports. Richard's approach focuses on identifying dysfunction in motor patterns, biomechanical imbalance and dysfunction to find the source of your pain problem. Richard currently works closely with a broad range of sporting and fitness organisations and has special interest and experience with Crossfit, martial arts and fighting sports as well as soccer. Once he has assessed your problem and identified the source of your pain and functional limitation, Richard applies a variety of treatment interventions including: Active Release Techniques (registered practitioner) Mulligans joint mobilisations Dry needling Kinesiology taping (k-tape) Functional re-training including specialising in thoracic ring as well as scapulo-thoracic and lumbo-pelvic dysfunction. SFMA Level 1 and 2 accredited? FMS Y Balance Test certified Richard has also completed a masters of workplace injury management and occupational rehabiiltation. This has allowed him to gain in depth knowledge to assist in the recovery from work related injury as well as ergonomics and manual handling. Recently Richard has completed the SFMA (Selective Functional Movement Assessment) courses in level 1 and 2 uses this clinical approach to seek the source of the problem. Often the true cause of a problem can be in a different body region to the pain. As a practitioner interested in prevention and performance, the SFMA is also a system that can be used to identify issues in people that haven't had an injury or no longer have pain from an older injury. If this sounds like you then perhaps the SFMA approach can help. Outside of the clinic Richard has a passion for sports. Currently training in Brazilian ju jitsu as a purple belt and playing soccer and basketball in local competitions. Paul graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise and Sports Science) and a Master of Physiotherapy and has worked in several private practice clinics before joining the Activ Therapy team. His interest in physiotherapy came from his own sports injuries which helped him understand physiotherapy by being in the shoes of the patient. This has shown him the value of physiotherapy and how important it is in maximising recovery and rehabilitation. Paul's takes a holistic approach to treatment in order to help people return back to and improve normal health, fitness and function as quickly as possible. Some of Paul's experience and treatment approaches include: Sports level 1 taping Mental Health First Aid Hands on soft tissue techniques Exercise prescription for biomechanical retraining Joint mobilisation techniques Post surgical rehabilitation Taping techniques Sports physiotherapy and performance. Paul enjoys most sports but has a particular interest in rugby league supporting the Sydney Roosters; and because he cannot risk further serious injuries, stays active on a social and competitive level with Oztag having had the privilege of leading the representative Opens Men’s Korean Tag Rugby Team to two major tournaments at the 2015 World Cup on the Sunshine Coast and 2016 Oceania Cup in Auckland, New Zealand.
