I’m Tom and I was born in Perth (WA), however, moved to Bathurst (NSW), when I was young. After finishing school and a bachelor degree in Exercise and Sport Science, I made the move to Sydney (NSW) to study Physiotherapy where I graduated with distinction.
A big reason I started EmbdyHealth Physiotherapy was due to low back pain that plagued me for a few years when I first started at uni. Like many of you, I went and saw a physio… then another physio… then another physio, constantly getting massages that weren’t helping me at all, and then giving me core strengthening exercises which again didn’t do anything, because it wasn’t what I needed, it’s just what they were used to doing for back pain.
As you can imagine, this was very frustrating, as I had no money and was in constant pain. That is, until I finally saw a physio who actually took the time to listen to me and understood what I actually needed. Which in the end, was just a little bit more movement, it was literally that simple. Since starting university I had been sitting a lot more for lectures and studying a lot.
I got moving, and my back pain got better, at that point, I vowed to become the best physio I could be, to listen to every patient I saw, and to do my best to help every single person I could.
