Susan Hallissy

I grew up in Canberra and have been practising optometry here for over 20 years. I hold a Bachelor of Optometry with first class honours from the University of New South Wales. After several years of working locally, I spent two years in The Netherlands as an optometrist in an ophthalmology clinic, where I was involved in coordinating clinical trials for emerging therapies in glaucoma and macular degeneration. I returned to Canberra in 1999 and worked in various practices before joining Unique Optical in 2003. In 2016, I completed a Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics, enabling me to prescribe medications for a wide range of eye conditions. I take great satisfaction in building long-term relationships with my patients, many of whom I’ve had the privilege of seeing for many years. Outside of work, I am a regular at parkrun, enjoy cycling and am learning swing dancing.
