Madeleine is a Physiotherapist and Clinical Pilates instructor with a focus in dance and performance.
She trained in classical dance up to the level of Advanced 2 in the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, before completing a Bachelor of Dance at the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne in 2011. Madeleine also competed at a national level in Sport Aerobics in the Advanced Team and Singles categories. It was through her experience as a dancer that she developed an interest in working in health.
She graduated from La Trobe University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences, Master of Physiotherapy practice, and the Pro Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Academic Excellence.
She has volunteered as a research assistant in studies investigating ankle injuries in professional ballet dancers, soccer and cricket athletes, as well as motion capture technology to investigate hip mechanics in professional ballet dancers.
Madeleine has previously worked as a Physiotherapist in public health at the Alfred Hospital and Caulfield Hospital. Her experience includes the management of patients in the Infectious Diseases Unit, the Intensive Care Unit, and in Subacute Orthopaedic Rehabilitation.
Since first joining the team at Alphington Sports Medicine in 2018, Madeleine has also worked as a touring Physiotherapist with both the Australian Ballet and Calisthenics Victoria.
Qualified in teaching Pilates mat and equipment work through the APPI, Madeleine has many years experience participating in yoga and snow sports, having travelled to and lived in multiple destinations around the world to snowboard.
