Dr Beshay is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who has sub-specialty training in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. He treats a wide variety of eye conditions in both adults and children. Dr Beshay completed medical school at the University of New South Wales and worked at the Royal North Shore Hospital for five years, including three years in Emergency Medicine, before commencing training in Ophthalmology through the Sydney Eye Hospital. After completing his training at the Sydney Eye Hospital, he was appointed Senior Ophthalmology Registrar at the Royal North Shore Hospital and gained a wealth of experience performing cataract surgery. He then underwent further sub-specialty training, completing a fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the Queensland Children’s Hospital and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. Dr Beshay has special interests in cataract surgery, ocular trauma, retinopathy of prematurity and strabismus (both adult and paediatric). He is currently appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Royal North Shore Hospital, Campbelltown Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital.

Dr Katherine Masselos is an Ophthalmologist who specialises in cataract and glaucoma surgery. After completing a Bachelor of Optometry degree from the University of NSW, she went on to study medicine at Sydney University, graduating with honours. Her ophthalmology training was at the Prince of Wales Hospital with her final year as the Professorial Senior Registrar. Dr Masselos went on to sub-specialty glaucoma training at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, in the United Kingdom. There she gained extensive laser and glaucoma surgical experience. Dr Masselos performs minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, as well as trabeculectomy and tube shunt surgery. Dr Masselos is actively involved in research and has published in international journals as well as presented at local and international meetings. Dr Masselos is a staff specialist at Prince of Wales and Sydney Eye Hospital where she enjoys teaching ophthalmology trainees, junior doctors and medical students. BMed (Dist) MMed FRANZCO Dr Downie is a consultant ophthalmologist with subspeciality training in oculoplastic and lacrimal surgery, ocular oncology and cataract. She graduated in Medicine from the University of Newcastle with Distinction, and completed a Masters Degree in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Sydney. She completed ophthalmology training at the Sydney Eye Hospital. She was the Professorial Senior Registrar. at the Sydney Eye Hospital, and Senior Registrar at Liverpool and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals, gaining experience in the management of patients with complex medical and surgical eye conditions. Dr Downie completed a Fellowship in Oculoplastic, Lacrimal, and Cataract surgery at St Thomas’ Hospital in London where she gained experience in Mohs surgery reconstruction of periocular skin cancers, working with the St John’s Dermatology unit at Guy’s Hospital, London. Dr Downie then completed a Fellowship in Ocular Oncology at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, the preeminent centre for ocular oncology in Europe. She gained expertise in managing ocular surface cancers, and intraocular tumours, including melanoma, naevi, vascular tumours and retinoblastomas. Dr Downie is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO). She has published in the peer-reviewed medical literature and has presented at national and international conferences. She is committed to teaching and research and continues to be involved with the registrar training program at the Sydney Eye Hospital. Dr Downie is committed to clinical and surgical excellence, and the care and involvement of patients and their families in decision making during their management.
